RULES
Bring the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus to your school for a day and spend the day in a state-of-the-art mobile recording studio, where your band will write lyrics and music, record your song and star in your own music video. Enter the local Repository high school Battle of the Bands.
Rules and Guidelines:
ENTRIES: Submit an entry form and an audiotape or compact disc to “Battle of the Bands” c/o The Repository. Hand deliver to: 500 Market Ave., S, Canton, OH 44702. Entries must be received by 5:00 p.m. January 18, 2008. All demo tapes and CDs must be marked with the band name and accompanied by an entry form. The original song must be identified.
THE CONTEST: The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus will be in Canton, date TBA, and one local band of up to eight members will receive a day-long recording session in this roving state-of-the-art music studio, which will be parked at the high school of the winning band.
JUDGING: Each band will be judged on entertainment value, overall sound, originality, and overall performance. Crowd reaction will also be considered. A panel of judges from the local music scene will select finalists.
FINALISTS: The finalists will be notified January 22 and will be invited to participate in the Battle of the Bands, sponsored by The Repository Saturday, February 9 at the Canton Palace theatre, 605 Market Ave., N, downtown Canton. Each band will have a 10 minute or two song performance allocation and at least one of the songs performed must be an original. A panel of judges will grade on overall sound, entertainment value, originality and overall performance. Crowd reaction will also be considered. These scores will be tallied, and each band will receive a total score which will determine the winner. Specific set-up instruction sand stage regulations will be reviewed with finalists. The winning band will have the day in the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, date TBA. Up to eight band members will be brought on board and given an all-day workshop by the on-board engineers and production staff to record a song and create an original music video.
ELIGIBILITY: Open only to students attending a Stark County high school who are enrolled full-time in accredited public, private, charter, parochial or home schools. Employees of The Repository, the 2007 winning band, the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, and each of their respective parent, affiliate, and subsidiary companies, and advertising or promotional agencies, and other agents, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, such employees, are not eligible. For purposes of this contest, the term “immediate family members” include spouses, grandparents, siblings, children and grandchildren. Prizes and dates may be subject to change. Students must have permission from a parent or guardian to enter. No purchase necessary.
LIABILITY: The Repository and Canton Palace Theatre shall not be liable in any manor for loss, injury or damage incurred at said show.
